Stuck In 2021?

I still come across job ads requiring COVID-19 vaccinations.  Apparently, these companies, mostly in healthcare but also other industries, either seldom update their job descriptions, a problem in itself and a red flag that the company is kind of clueless in general, or in 2023, they are actually still caught up in the virus panic of 2020, an even worse sign of a shitty company.  Even if those vaccinations worked to prevent transmission, which they don't--even the companies who make the vaccines know that--, this sort of paternalistic knowing better than the potential employee about her or his health is offensive.  When I see that in an ad (and the only good thing you can say about the ad is that at least don't spring this bullshit on you later so you don't have to waste time applying and whatnot), I know to skip applying for that job.  No thanks, I don't need to risk winning the clottery just to work your stupid job.  It's like the company equivalent of someone wearing a facemask in the supermarket in 2023.  I'll support your right to wear it, but I know you're stupid and despite probably feeling like you understand science better than the unmasked masses shopping around you, you are actually demonstrating you don't know shit and are gullible enough to have the media make a complete fool of yourself.  It's handy I suppose for the stupid among us to voluntarily identify themselves so the rest of us can know to avoid them, but from a company perspective, it's even more stupid since they are shooting themselves in the foot proverbially.  Not only is the company only hiring stupid candidates, since in 2023 if you haven't figured out the vaccines don't work and probably have nasty side effects on top of the main failure, then you've got to be pretty thick, but when these people have a stroke or have to take weeks off work because they develop an aggressive cancer, then you have to hire someone else and start the whole process again.  Too bad companies weren't so conformist and actually challenged the bullshit poured upon them from so-called authority figures, or better yet actually left the personal decisions of their employees to their employees.  I mean people would go apeshit if a company was trying to force a pregnant woman to have an abortion.  Vaccination is another personal health decision.  Just because someone else is terrified of getting sick doesn't mean that person has the right to take away the choice of someone else.  Being pro-choice and supporting bodily autonomy is the right call, yet I still see companies proudly proclaiming their bigotry and stupidity in job ads.

Ah, corporate America.  No wonder we have a plagiarist for president who pimps for Big Pharma and before that we had a con artist who also pimped for Big Pharma.  The majority gets what it deserves.  Too bad the smarter minority has to deal with the majority's stupidity.  As a job applicant, it's always nice to have more options, so I hope these ads dwindle to nothing as we head into 2024.
